Powell Fenwick Consultants (PFC) have been delivering innovative engineering solutions to New Zealand since 1954. Now, with over 120 staff working across seven disciplines, they needed an identity and website that could match and support a mindset of unity and purpose.
Imagic provided a new brand identity, photography direction, and website design and build for the prominent engineering company.
We needed to ensure the new brand could provide a strong point of difference. Given the company’s use of ‘success engineered’ as a tagline, it was important the new identity had a strong foundation, precise structure, and remarkable construction.
It helped that PFC understood the technical intricacies and everyday realities of a design/build project, allowing us to get on with the work at hand in a confident and collaborative manner. Ours was engineering of a different kind. However, with the right mix of talent and vision, success would be measured the same.
The website brief was clear too. PFC needed a dynamic showcase within which to show both process and results, with technical case studies highlighting the story within the work and community stories sharing the wider benefits of their efforts.
PFC have become one of the largest multi-discipline engineering design consultancy companies in the South Island due to their enduring focus on forging strong relationships throughout the industry – and encouraging cross-pollination of ideas and approaches within their dynamic team.
They understand that everything is connected, and that delivering innovative solutions requires an inclusive approach that is genuine, practical, and omnipresent. We appreciate the strength in unity mindset, and looked to the different shapes this can take for design inspiration.
Arcade game players will recognise the ‘building blocks’ of the new brand. In an often stark and conservative industry environment the use of colour and personality ensures the brand can stand out from the pack. While the clean, well-honed design delivers authority to PFC and confidence to their clients.
The tetrominoes are an apt metaphor for the overall work of the renowned engineering firm too. After all, PFC have built a strong reputation for problem solving and going above and beyond – when the game is played right everything clicks into place, problems disappear, and you get to move on to the next project.
